Raw food quality, cold-skimmed | from sustainable beekeeping in the Ötscherland Nature Park
Raw and unfiltered honey is rich in minerals, antioxidants, probiotics and enzymes and is one of the most vibrant foods in the world. Honey is also a particularly beneficial food that provides our body with a very useful and beneficial kind of sugar (energy). Made of the nectar bees suck from bees, honey is a universal medicine, sweetener and nutrient source at the same time. The extensive studies conducted on honey in Russia indicate that raw unprocessed honey is Mother Nature’s richest source of living, healing enzymes and that it enhances reflexes, mental alertness and even IQ! *
The stories, legends and myths surrounding bees and their products are so numerous that they could fill volumes. The only food that can boast a history as rich as bee products is cocoa. Ancient Egypt is the place where the modern science of beekeeping began. The Egyptians were among the first humans in the world to keep bees. The Egyptians sacrificed honey and bee pollen to their gods. Bees and bee products were part of almost all rituals.
Honey products were also widely used in Greco-Roman civilization. And in Arabia, Mohammed, the prophet of Islam, taught that honey brings happiness and health: “Honey is a cure for all diseases.”
It is important to note that bees are often cruelly and inhumanly treated in conventional, industrialized beekeeping (feeding the bees with sugar syrup instead of giving them some of their own honey, spraying the plants visited by bees with toxic nicotine-containing pesticides and some other intolerable ones practices). In view of the recent colony of bee colonies and the pollination crisis, which incidentally mainly concerns conventional beekeeping, it is important to support those beekeepers who treat their bees in a friendly and loving manner and practice organic methods of beekeeping.
